where did you get your Don Hood sticker?
...and how do you know of him?
....EVER HEAR OF THE "A-1" Camaro? ;)
The Hood's lived on "L" St. in G.P.,down the road from my grandparents, when I was a kid=waaaay back in the day (early-mid 70's).We would ride up on our bicycles every time he would fire up the stock car.Very, very nice man-I don't know how he put up with us kids :)
There are alot of motorcycle stories w/ his name right in the mix = legend ...
ever hear of Dick Chambers?...=G.P. flat track, hillclimb legend.
sorry for the rant= RESPECT to those men and their families....has me smiling over here 8)

I went to GPHS w/ your parents...
I believe Dave was the first person over Blitz Cannon w/ a 250cc (a 1982 or 83 cr250) in 82' or 83'...if my memory serves me correctly.

im split between oxy (torch) welding it or mig (wire feed) welding it tomorrow. The oxy will be a smaller cleaner and more scale/clean looking bead, but the mig will probably be stronger and more accurately weldable

I don't know anything about welding so that's all greek to me.  More scale sounds good though.

it just dawned on me (Kelly) when I was away from the computer= sorry man  ;D
...well  now that I have your family tree straight=duh
I think you should wrap the whole thing in duct tape and call it an exo-skelleton "old school"    :-X
    ...bumper looks good ;)

yeah duct tape the body everyone so after every run peel it off and walah perfect body lol

but oxy welding is a torch that puts out a roughly 6000 degree fahrenheit flame (i may be wrong on the temp) and mig plugs into the wall and when you pull the trigger on the wand copper wire comes out and melts to make a weld

Use the mig its easier to get a stronger weld than a perfectly sweated joint with brazing. Careful with a metal wraith bumper. It will just make the frame break further back. Remember the wraith was designed to be a big "sponge" of sorts and a steel bumper. I gave up on trying to keep a bumper on the wraith and just went without. I had way more aproch angle and they look silly anyhow usually. KOH trucks like this is modeled after dont have big goofy tree catchers on them just minimal tubes up there. Once you start adding tube to the plastic frames bad things happen. You will end up with a full metal frame before long because you will keep breaking more and more of the plastic substructure.

Holly heat!! Steel melts under 3000 if I remember right and your filler is gonna be 1000 degrees less than that. Brazing goes on around 1500-2000 degree

Go big and make a total frame! Use the stocker as a rough template and just go to town. Blow your class away and make your own mini rock buggy. I bet guys in your class would see it and want you to make them one. If you can weld and bend metal you can make a frame. You look to be able to do both so ......... 8)

hahahaha thats just what my metals teacher told me but then again he knows nothing lol. He is a contractor trying to teach a metals class, i have been in his classes for 3 years and havent seen him touch any kind of welder whether it be to weld or to repair/maintenance it. Guess the price of listening to him was me looking like a retard! hahahaha
