The project is far from complete but it rolled out of the shop and onto the trail under its own power finally. Thanks to sinistercad for the "donation". I still owe you one :D I think it may be the funnest R/C vehicle i have ever driven. It is a total different type of driving experience. It isn't really offroading nor onroading but some odd mix of just fun scale driving. just the trip driving up to my track from the house was a blast. In ultra low gear it took about 5minutes to travel the 100 ft. Hauling the Jeep inside it and in high gear down hill it made the return trip in about 3 minutes

Looks like you're almost all set to go camping Highlandcrawler.  You've got the camper and some wood already chopped.  ;)

I finished up the undercarriage for it today and got the suspension close to dialed in. Still plan on changing out the shock and spring combo but its close enough for messing around right now. The frame is very straight forward with no frills or anything fancy. Axial transmission fed into a Traxxas 2speed used as a transfer case out too Axial axles with a few mods for the extra weight. Ae-2 esc and a silver can 550 12t for go and a Hitec 7954 pointing the way. I plan on using the extra tranny output as a P.T.O. out the front for driving goodies later on down the road. Thats why it has the large long custom shaft.  As odd as it all looks it works very well and does its intended purpose great. It carries the 10lb body with not much effort and is far more stable than I had initially thought. I have been taking it on mild trails and have yet to lay it over.

With the undercarriage done and out of the way I can now focus on the fun and time consuming part of the build. The body and interior ;D. I have grand plans I may or may not ever finish but i can guarantee it will be something different. It will have a very detailed driver cabin area and some nice details in the passenger compartment also but no as intricate. There will be an area for my tools and spare parts hidden inside and the rear most section will be insulated for an ice chest so I can have tasty iced beverages on the trail 8).

Fist order of business was to remove the old interior and fix the minor rust spots from almost 40 years of grime trapped inside. Not horrible but in need of some love and elbow grease.

And after a couple hours we have something we can start working with. When I paint the outside I will sand the inside down and shoot a nice even coat of fresh white paint in there also.

I started working on the outside a little but the neighbor girls kept coming over and bugging me. ::)

Thanks man. I am having a hard time working on it because I cant stop driving it long enough. I made myself a tow dolly for it so I can haul along a second truck behind it now. Most of the time I never unload the truck and just haul it around for fun. The motor home is just more fun lol.

I'm so out of the times. I just caught my first episode finally a couple days ago :-[. Then i watched another and another and now Im hooked on it lol. Kind of reminds me of Trailer Park Boys. I will dig up one of my all time favorite builds for you later. A guy hand made a nasty old brown station wagon with a wrecked frontend and it had a sick little tow behind white trash style camper setup. It was full on with lab, crack pipes, porno mags, pretty over the top but the skill involved was top shelf. Nothing like that going in here though.... hmmmm maybe one of those fancy smoking vases though?

Finished and painted now. Hands down the best trailer I have built or owned. I cant believe how well it tows and even more impressed with its offroad capability. Its god awful ugly with the monster tires but they are all I have on hand. I will fix them later
