My browser does not have spell check.
I do have spell check in my word processing application.
I just thought there would be a checker in this post editor.

My system is XP Pro with IE-8

Maybe Santa will blow the lock off my wallet, and bring me one of them new fangled gadgets this Christmas.

My browser (Firefox) does have a spell checker and it works fine within the Quick Reply box.

However it does not work in the WYSIWYG editor ??

    For MS IE-8

IeSpell - Install and will/should give ya a spell checker for
(IE8) Internet Explorer 8 or any IE based browsers such as SlimBrowser, CrazyBrowser, MSN, MyIE or Avant

An excellent Spell Checker I would highly recommend ...
... and although I run FireFox I've used ieSpell myself when I ran IE and was hard pressed to find a situation
where it didn't work as advertised

    FYI

This question seems to have already been answered by others, but I wanted to mention a totally cool spell checker that I've been using for the last couple years.  It's called "TinySpell".  It's a tiny little program that runs in the background and checks your spelling EVERYWHERE you type.  Works in all programs, including forums, notepad, all browsers, etc.  Very nice little program and it's FREE.  You can get it at: http://tinyspell.numerit.com/    They also have a delux version for $10, but I've never used it and never felt the need.  The free one is just awesome.

    Thanks Tiger,
I did however install Google Chrome switching from IE8.
Not only do the web pages load much faster, but it contains an automatic spell checker as well.

I've toyed with the idea of trying Goggles Chrome for some time so I downloaded and installed the browser this morning.

I've been using Google's browser for about an hour now. I have to say I'm certainly impressed with the speed it opens pages as page opening is faster, much faster. Also for that matter Chrome's Spell-Check is working better as there are a few less quirks than with FireFox. If I can find the AddOns for Chrome that I've  become accustomed to using in FireFox I just might have to switch browsers ...

... but so far I DO indeed LIKE Chrome

I've had Chrome installed for testing websites I develop for years.  I've been using Chrome as my main browser for about nine months, I was using Firefox as my default browser.  IE is not a option for me because I don't use the Windows operating system.  I switched to Chrome after Firefox changed their release schedule to the fast update cycle they are using now because the quality went to crap and I was getting a lot of slow-downs and crashes.

I would use Opera (http://www.opera.com/) as it is also very fast and I like the design, however Opera tries to communicate with something over the same port as MS messenger (probably a feature somehow) and my firewall was getting a lot of triggers and that just bugged me.  It's probably harmless, but I don't like software that does any communications without asking me first.

At one time (almost 4 years ago) I did OPERA but I NEVER liked the FREEware ver because it was AD based ... {LOL} So naturally I got a WAREZ ver and used that ... However I don't WAREZ anymore but shortly after I started to use FireFox anyway. Fast forward to today and I have to agree with you on that point Gp "FireFox" it would seem has gone to the dogs ...

That's forever in Internet time.  You should have a look at Opera again.  It's only free and it is very fast.  I quite like the "look" of it also, but that's a matter of taste.

    So I'm tooling around w/ .: [IMG] :. tOdaY

It's got a pleasing appearance which is VERY different than what I remember was Opera, specifically GONE is that stupid Banner AD I hated. The "Spell-Check" is working as expected and the way it should. It's be plenty FAST and what I needed for plug-in's in Firefox is built in to Opera. OK well it's not perfect but whatever is, that's minor comparatively speaking as there are a few conveniences I'll miss which I need to find.

However for the most part and the best part I'm happy, it's a sweet package. I'm thinking we have a keeper, thanks Yoda it be what you say it be ...

Opera is awesome and often overlooked.  I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good browser.  It's even available on some smartphones.
    Glad I could help!  :)
