Pretty cool. I didn't know they made a mini version. Certainly is beefy looking! Is the big one flying yet?

It is pretty beefy. The arms are 30mm same as the large one. The 1000 is not flying yet. I am thinking to go another direction with it, not sure yet.

Here is the small one folded in the case. There is room for the transmitter also.

That's pretty cool. SO beefy! Should be able to take quite a beating. So does the little one get a camera or is it just a sport flying platform?

Getting closer. I was worried it wouldn't fit in the case with the props on. Here is proof it does fit. Canopy is removed to show electronics layout although I may need to relocate the PMU. I managed to get the GPS to fit under the canopy.

@Tiger - I'm hoping I can use this one for both. Initially I am going to set it up for flying only because I want to get used to my Futaba radio plus if I'm going to crash I don't want to risk damaging a gimbal. When I'm happy with the setup I will mount a gimbal.
I may be able to make the gimbal removable by four screws and a couple connectors.

I think I will start this one on some 3S batteries I have because I don't have any 4S batteries that fit. I can't imagine that this model will fly on 3S with a gimbal so 4S is definitely in it's future.

I finally got some batteries for this model. One is a 3700 mAh 4S and one is a 4500 mAh 4S so I can try and see which size works best for the balance and CG. I should be able to do a test flight soon.

I have to relocate the Naza power module. When I mounted it I forgot that I will need the port for the gimbal and that port is next to the strap. See image:

    rvvqx4-2-layout-1.jpg

I am thinking about making a plate with standoffs that will hold the power module above the Naza. See this image:

    rvvqx4-2-layout-2.jpg

Can anyone think of a reason that the power module not be mounted above the Naza? I was wondering if the power module will cause interference of some kind with the Naza.

Does anyone know if the magnetometer is inside the Naza unit, or inside the GPS puck?

Some new 3D printed parts. On the left is a battery tray and on the right is the DJI H3-3D gimbal mount that will relocate the gimbal forward on the airframe.

    @Tiger - No, I purchased them.

I didn't have much time to work on this but got the parts mounted and the case modified so it will fit the quad with it's new parts.

    rvvqx42-2-25-2015-a.jpg

The bottom is some really dense foam. My trimming isn't very pretty. I used to be able to fit the quad in the case with all props mounted, but needed to reposition the quad to the left to accommodate the gimbal mount so now I will need to remove the two rear props when putting the quad in the case. This is kind of a bummer.
I have not yet test fitted the case fit with the DJI H3-3D gimbal mounted but it looks like it should fit.

Detail of the battery tray. This tray can accomodate batteries up to 45 mm wide so both the 4S 3700 mAh and 4S 4500 mAh batteries I have for this model fit.

I haven't posted about this for a while. Here is a video overview.
