Yes. If you're interested in going, we can ride out together, or meet at Wilderville and you can follow me out.
If you can locate it on Google map, then right-click and select "What's here" it puts a arrow on the map. Then select the icon that looks like a sideways chain-link and paste that into the topic post. At least that's how it works on my Linux box with Google's Chrome browser.
Google Map to location: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=42.215455,-123.624301&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=15 Green arrow is the field Thanks for the tip John Take Hwy 199 south to Kerby (between Selma and Cave Junction), turn left onto Kerby Mainline Rd., follow all the way to the Kerby Transfer Station (the dump), just befor the entrance to the dump is a gravel road on the right. Take that and about a quarter mile on the left is the entrance to the skypark!
Is that white stripe in the middle the airstrip? Must be a old image on Google as the photos you showed in your post from a couple weeks ago looked like a lot of grass and more green.
Yes, the white strip is actually black and it is the runway - just reflecting light and heat to the satellite in this pic. The black rectangular area is the shale parking lot. And yes, the pic is old. All "civillian" satellite photos are intentionally long out of current dates for national security reasons. For example: if you Google the Whitehouse, you will not be able to see if the Presidential limo, or Marine One, are actually on the grounds. And most military installations have 3D rendered buildings vs photos of the actual buildings for the same reason.
I didn't know the Josephine Skypark was a secret military installation. Now I know why I lost you guys on the drive down there, you used the batcave entrance.
Yes! A little known fact - back before the days when I was helping Dan Quale invent the internet, I actually invented the bat cave! It originally connected Wayne Manor to the Oregon Caves in Cave Juction, and then out to the SkyPark in Kerby! Now, I can pretty much pop out anywhere at a moment's notice Geez, I crack myself up sometimes ;D
