Just got this sent to me, this is like, the best airtanker video footage ever produced, I have never seen anything made from this perspective before, it is just totally non existant (Thanks sports cam makers!) These are canadian water scoopers doing their thing.... They are smaller (1,100 gallons of water), as compared to a type 1 like we have in Medford (3,000 gallons of retardant), but this allows the high speed, low level stuff you see in the video. http://vimeo.com/48642618 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadair_CL-215
DAMN!!! That was some VERY cool video! I've seen RC models of this aircraft and have always thought they were ugly as sin. However, after watching the video, two thing jumped into mind... 1. Theses planes don't have a water rudder! They maneuver solely by the thrust of the two motors and the air rudder. 2. Because they have no water rudder, they can spin on their own axis without having to move in a forward motion!!! The props must be variable-pitch with negative pitch capability. You can see this in the video and it looks totally cool 8) Thanks for sharing Tyson!
