how does one discern of they have a motor that's not up to par?

All of my motors "work" but I suspect there might be be some issues where their not outputting as much power as they should.

Is there any easy test to check things like each motor is getting enough power, or that each motor is generating full thrust?

the reason I ask is that I have added a new gimbal to my Phantom2, and it weighs a fair amount. (350g if I recall). If I use the white plastic props, in hover the whole quad shakes back and forth (not so much in motion) and if I use the CF props it seems to not be able to get enough thrust.

I know other folks have used this exact gimbals on their phantoms. the fact that the CF props are struggling to keep it aloft makes me wonder if I have a weak motor and so to keep it stable its lowing the power of all motors.

For the sake of simplicity, I'd measure the current drain of each motor under load. Use a servo tester to drive the ESC so that you know everything stays equal.
