As the title states I'm looking for the best tutorials and How-to articles for a list I'm putting together. However my expertise is with helicopters and there I've almost found and almost finished listing all my favorite Heli links but I came up NIL when looking for the GOOD Rc Airplane links. Sure there was a TON to look at when I 'Google' but I had NO clue as which are the GOOD and the BAD ones and I didn't want to choose by random Golden Child I think maybe you must know a bunch but I'm looking to everyone for some help, ... so could we list some of everyone's favorites or the ones you think are the BEST Airplane Tutorials and HOW-To's More the MERRY Thanks [acronym=EYE See! Hey Wood, here's the mother link of most links RC. It may be more than what you were looking for, and if so, one could pull the appropriate pieces out. http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~atong/
Thanks Bill, I don't think it's more than than what I was looking for, think that's exactly what I wanted ... Any more good ones? Hey Bill and Yoda guess what, say goodbye Derrick Threatt the old owner of RC Heli Resources.com. He has sold out to RcGroups.com and they have nixed the old forum we were on and in it's place is the RcGroups Forum [acronym=EYE See! "w00d's Photo Musings" LINK to my BLOG][shadow=grey,left]w00d[/shadow][/acronym] PS: If your curious as to what I'm doing here's my shameless web promo
That's interesting. You think he sold it? I wonder how much he got?
Apparently he did sell, but he's NOT saying for how much Here's the story, which reads like the typical (BS) company line http://www.rcheliresource.com/new-ownership-derrick-threatt-steps-down-as-ceoexecutive-editor-of-rcheliresource-com/
w00d, when it comes to learning something I am mostly a "first-hand" student. I learn new things by trial and error, by doing. I do seek advise from others, in person and on line, but when it comes down to it, that advise is mostly opinion, with some basis in fact. There have been a few youtube videos that have helped. Probably the best I've seen are by RCHelpDotCom - http://www.youtube.com/user/RcHelpDotCom He explains pretty much anything you can think of in detail and in language that anyone can understand. HobbyKing also has a couple of guides that are useful - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/lipo_basics.asp http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/ebasic.asp I'm sure I can come up with some others but right now it's O-Dark-Thirty in the WAY too early morning I'l post more as I think of them. Have a GREAT day!
Thanks I'll post them up and look forward to the others [acronym=EYE See! "w00d's Photo Musings" LINK to my BLOG][shadow=grey,left]w00d[/shadow][/acronym] PS: Great links but just to be clear I'm looking for tutorials on building and setting up Airplanes, the youtube links you gave me from what I can see is for Helicopters. Which is alright I'll post that in the 'heli' section but I have nothing for Airplanes! hehe, think this will work for the YouTube Videos, I posted in the Airplane section but it specifically says "Rc-Help.com: YouTube Video's covering everything from Airplanes, Helicopter to Cars/Trucks That should work, eh
Here are some more I use on occasion, though not tutorials, are "a nice to have" when setting up an aircraft. Hope you can use them. First one is all about servos. http://www.servodatabase.com/ Then a couple of different motor Calculators. http://www.adamone.rchomepage.com/calc_motor.htm http://brantuas.com/ezcalc/dma1.asp
Thanks Bill I really appreciate them and I will add them today ... I will add them my 'Tools' list LOL, and I was just coming here to ask for more ... ... Following is the list so far but I didn't include their URL's, too much work and it's not needed as we can just go and have a look ... So YES keep em coming and I do need MORE, something at least for the Mutli-rotor birds given there popularity around here? Hey guess what, I went to one of the links you gave me, their home page, adamone.rchomepage.com and I found more calculators ... so I added them also But the third URL you gave me is a copy of one of the calculators found at Castle Creations site which I already had posted. Oh yes and I also had the 'Servo Database' listed and I agree it is indeed a very useful site Any wayzzzzz ... ... three thumbs-up and again thanks Bill that was allot of good info
I've just finally got around to checking out your link wOOd. Very nice job. 8) If I come across or think of any more, I'll pass them on to ya.
Wood, here is a tidbit that was recently a great help to me. I don't see a TX-RX section yet but here's what I found any way. I've been working a little project that needed more out of my Futaba 8FG than the manual explained or what I could get my head around. I was in need of a servo slow down feature for flaps on a new craft I am assembling. Here is what I found and it really works slick. http://futaba8fg.wikidot.com/channel-slow-down-using-motor-function
Thank's Bill Added ---> Tutorials, Resources and Tools ---> Electronics ---> Rc Electronics ---> Channel slow-down using Motor function But now I'm curious, why the need to slow your servos? [acronym=EYE See! "w00d's Photo Musings" LINK to my BLOG][shadow=grey,left]w00d[/shadow][/acronym]
Well, the plane I used as a float plane had a rather rough time this year, http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt283/GPBill/IMG_0315Copy.jpg so I am replacing it with a Multiplex FunCub and am using the flaps. http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/fun-cub-kit-MPU214243
I've used a 3 position switch to activate them. Normally flipping the switch would result in a quick deployment and you would really need to be ready for the added lift and attitude change. I'll also add some elevator mixing to the flaps when I get it flying. By slowing the channels down on the flaps it's much easier to keep up, plus it's more scale like and looks cool too. ;D
