    My suggestions are these...

    HobbyZone Super Cub LP  http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/3_516_693/products_id/156392/n/HobbyZone-Super-Cub-LP-Bind-N-Fly-Electric-Airplane

BananaHobby Wing Dragon III SE  http://www.bananahobby.com/1961.html

BananaHobby Sky Surfer V3 (Brushless Upgrade - similar to the Easy Star, but with ailerons) http://www.bananahobby.com/1937.html

NitroPlanes Cesna 182 Sky Trainer  http://www.nitroplanes.com/93a300-1400-skytrainer182-red-arf.html (you just missed this one at the school this morning - the guy flew it right into one of the basketball posts :-\)

My favorite is still the Cub as it has so many possibilities for upgrades (including floats!!!)

I learned to fly with one like this HobbyZone Firebird Commander.

This Multiplex Easy Star is similar to the one above, both pretty easy to fly.

With a little help from friends, either of the next two would work and both have a float kit as options.  :)

Thanks for pointing that out wOOd, for some reason two of the links were missing the l off the end. They were htm and not html. I've redone them and I think they work now.

The fun cub seems to be quite a capable plane.
The video is a touch above beginner skills but shows what it can do. Must be how it got it's name.  ;)

You have to love the GWS Slowstick. It is the cheapest and easy to fix if the begining flight doesn't end like you hoped.A 2218  Hobby king motor and a 20 amp speed control and you are flying verticle when you need to.
