We have had several people ask how to post events to the calendar, and some folks wondered why the posts they created directly in the "Events" forum did not show up in the calendar.

Here is a how-to for creating events that will display in the calendar and in the events forum.  The benefit of following this method of posting events is that they will also appear in the "Upcoming Calendar" area at the bottom of the home page in the info center.

NOTE: You will need to be a registered member and be logged in to add events to the calendar.

First hover your mouse over the calendar menu at the top of the page.  A drop-down menu will appear:

Click "Post Event" from the menu.

You will then see this form to fill out with your event details.

The "Subject" and "Event Title" fields should be the same.  They determine what is displayed in the events forum and what is displayed on the calendar.

Make sure you select the correct date, Year, Month and day, for your event because you cannot change this once you click the post button.  If you make a mistake with the date just delete the post and start over.

Don't change the "Post In" selector.  It defaults to putting the post part of the event in the Events forum where people expect to find them.

When posting a event don't presume people already know where the venue is located, the Internet is a big place and you never know who may want to attend.  Google maps are great to help people find the right place and they can get driving directions on their computer and many mobile phones.

The event calendar is a useful part of the website, it helps remind people of what's coming up and can also be a great help getting people to attend your event.
