Was trying to Google for the weight of the GoPro camera and somehow ended up on this site:  http://fpvpilot.com

Looks pretty interesting.  Maybe everyone else know about it, but I didn't.

Some of this website seems familiar.  Good find.  I like some of his videos also.

They are some of the early FPV pioneers, it was this web site that I used for advice when I got into it, they are the Crash 9 video productions you see on youtube, they just did a rcexplorer v2 tricopter build last year with the 5.5 KK board, it was an all aluminum aircraft. There is a lot of info concerning which kind of camera does what, ccd vs cmos vs HD jello effect, etc.

Just checked out fpvpilot.com, found their FAQ so I spent a little time to reading through that.
Yup looks like a good'n interesting site worth a re-visit [IMG]

    ... and +1 PP

Re: "jellow affect" Their FAQ says, Quote: --->

    Q. What's the main difference between a CMOS camera and a CCD camera when used for FPV?
    A. The CMOS camera sensor does not have a shutter. It scans the image from the lens line by line instead of snapping a full frame at once like a CCD camera does. Because of this the CMOS can have waves or ripples in the video if there are vibrations generated from the aircraft/vehicle. Most prefer the CCD with a SONY 1/3" lens image sensor.

FPVLAB is another great site. I do 90% of my research between that one and RCGroups.

This fella is doing a series of reviews and how to videos for folks. Some of it off the shelf and some DIY.

    w00t, Good FIND Bill ...

Have bookmarked for the re-visit! Great to see not only good content but IMO his videos are well  presented to, easy
to digest as the fella seems well spoken. Seems to me allot of these "how-to" videos have the content  but are short
in personality, thus have NO staying power w/ NO entertainment value ...

... Yeah in short I LIKE the GUY  ;)

Hey Trevor, welcome to the forum! Did you forgot the link?

I've ordered from fpvpilot.com before. LOTS of great stuff!

John, two things stand out for this radio...
First - SLIDERS!!! Sliders positioned where you can reach them without taking your fingers off the sticks - EXCELLENT!!!
Second - LiFe battery!!! Again - EXCELLENT!!!

But the one MAJOR downfall for this radio is it is not available in the US. Your link above does not come up with the XG8. Searching that site gets no results for that radio. Doing a Google search for the XG8 results in many other forum posts about how the radio is not available here. While it looks like a GREAT radio (and it really does - despite resembling Megatron!), if you can't buy it, for all intents and purposes, it does not exist. Not to mention that in countries where it is available, it costs $100 more than the DX8. NOT that I'm knocking it down in favor of the DX8 just because I have one. If this were available here I would likely sell my DX8 to get the XG8!

More and more I am finding myself in a need for channels with sliders available..............

That is odd.  That website removed all mention of the JR XG8.  Maybe they are out of stock and therefore removed it from the online store.

More likely Horizon Hobby threatened to sue them into oblivion for transgressing on their US copyright/sales!

That is where I got all of my eagle tree stuff from as it seemed cheaper there vs other places.
