    Here's my problem:
    ... I can't take photographs while flying!

Ideally I would need someone to help, one to shoot and one to fly
... NOT having anyone who can help here's what I thought up.
... I thought I could use my cameras 'Timer  Remote'

            [IMG]  <--- Timer  Remote

... With my Camera set on a 'Tripod' and using my 'Remote' I could get my photos automatically
... So we set my 'Remote' to take a series of pictures every 5 seconds while I'm flying
... However after trying 5 seconds I'm thinking a new shot every 3 or 2 seconds might be better.

    TEST results:

I know it's not ideal but nevertheless I get results I can use ...

    Thanks for looking

when I am riding dirtbikes, depending on the size of the card, and batt. life, I like to go every 2 seconds on my GoPro...Then out of the 1500 some odd pics, I keep about 20  ;)

@ACP: Yup, out of approximately 50 shots I got those 4 seen above [IMG]
... Most were 'compositionally' wrong, eg: heli out of frame but a number where the heli was in-frame they were also out of focus

But part of the issue was my flying
... I was flying tail-in thus the space I had was limited, too small.
... Thus it was hard to keep the heli in frame!
... LOL, almost HIT my desk more than a few times ...

Bet ya $200 you wouldn't, LOL [IMG]
... Actually more to the point, thanks Scott but you can't help ...

actually, I was extremely envious that you could fly that indoors=if I tried that, someone in my house would be making a trip to the E.R. for suchers    :-X

Well NOT to make excuses as flying a helicopter in a confined space such as a small living room shouldn't be done, period!

Putting ALL caution and better sense to the wind I have been HIT by teh main blades at full speed with that heli and YES it HURT but there was little if any actual damage to my person. However I have also flown my 450 (see my SIG) indoors and without a doubt it would be a far more serious encounter if I weren't as careful as I NEED to be. That said there are no others in the room, I personally also wear Safety Glasses, keep that heli hovering in one spot (the best I can) and it's a must I keep the 'hover' low the ground (floor) ... My 600 I won't even think about spooling up indoors, minimum distance for me and that puppy is 20 feet between it and the Tx! But sure with my smaller helicopters such as my GAUI's I can be a somewhat braver and FLY the room and any encounter with an immovable object (or me) will only HURT the helicopter thus my wallet. Yes we need to know our helicopters and our limitations but this is also true for good safety out in the field.

Nevertheless ya knowz what the 'lawyers' wound have me say "don't do this at home kids"
... which is kinda of ironic because that's exactly where I'm flying
... Better to say "Do as I SAY, NOT as I DO" ... LMAO

wOOd, it's good to see the little the Gaui up and hovering.

My little Cannon has the capability of shooting up to 10 shots using the built-in timer. I've never used it for more than one at a time for family shots. I didn't think of using it like you did.
    You got some nice shots.

GPS makes a good point!  I think it's worth some effort to work out this indoor flying thing.  First you need to put an infrared beacon on the bottom of the heli and then you need to throw together some stuff to make the camera track it.  Then all you need is to rig the remote shutter control to a button on your TX.  Sounds simple enough!  The only real problem I see is that the weather might be good again by the time you finish.

LOL, don't be so hard on yourself as it was a reasonable assumption given ALL our members minus ONE are from Oregon.
... I am teh only one that lives too far away for any in person-to-person RC fun ... But the 'thought' does count ;)

Hey Tiger we're NOT allowed to stay indoors in the Winter, think it's written in Canadian LAW (or is that Eskimo LAW?)

... We must have our Rc FUN even during the COLD months and NOT withstanding teh 6" Icicles extending from our nose, NO excuses, WE GO out! [IMG]
LMAO J/K I HATE frezzzzzzzing my privates as it's really NOT any fun, no Sir it ain't ------ BURRRRRR  :-\

Yup it's always good to get in some 'hover' practice but I'm happy ya liked my little idea Bill [IMG]
... Making Video was easy, hit the 'record button' and 'record'
... but HOW to TAKE 'still-shots' and FLY was a longtime puzzle for this Pilot/Photographer, Do'h

w00d - Were those stills, or did you grab frames from a video?  Did you make video of your recent indoor flights?  I always enjoy seeing them and I am always on the edge of my seat when I watch them.

Cool, I always enjoy your indoor flying.  If I had enough room to push the sofas apart I would be flying indoors too.
