At long last, something I had been thinking about doing is starting to come together. I now have all the hardware for FPV.
In the teaser photo below is; FatShark goggles, camera and upgraded circular polarized antenna for tx and rx. DJI mini ods and DJI landing gear for the 450. The little package next to the servo is a pan/tilt kit from HK. (will be just using the tilt) A couple of HK batteries to power the goggles and plugs to replace the jst connectors that came on the batteries.

I'm still looking for a somewhat affordable ground station, video recorder with display that will show what is seen through the goggles. Something like this. http://hobbywireless.com/index.php?...id=772&zenid=a289350b8659dc05f35cebb0f0b90b4b

I intend to first temporarily mount this camera and tx on my RC truck to get accustomed to how it all works and looks through the goggles from the safety of the ground.

I'll post photos and update the thread as things progress but be forewarned, this is my winter project and fish are biting over on the river right now so it might be a little slow to get from now to up and flying on the 450. ;)

Agree, nice stuff Bill. I'm looking forward to seeing some video from your truck tests.

    Thanks guys.
First thing is to get the barrel plugs soldered to the batteries so I'll have some power to check the goggles out.
I'll keep this up to date as I go along, truck cam and all. :)

I've got a little to update.
John, here's pretty much what it looks like on the truck. Just a simple ply platform attached to the rollbar. It's a pretty simple setup with just the camera and and vtx.
I'll plug every thing in soon and see if I get video. The down side is, I have no way to record that video yet. :(

Gee Bill, that looks good. Paint the plywood black and mount it on the bed and you've got a scale looking FPV crawler.

I thought of that but it's not intended to stay there long. ;)

Here is a photo of the little camera tilt with the servo stuck on.

Well there's always dual use for your gear.
That camera tilt is tiny! Are those ball bearings on the sides?

You're right especially if it's easily swappable.

It is small, and the little camera fit's perfectly. Yes, bearings on the hinge.

I wonder if there is a way to use a laptop/desktop computer to record your video from the goggles?

I have read that some do. I really don't know what it would take to do it though or if my laptop would be capable as it's pretty low in features etc.

Yep, I use a VCR composite to USB thing. I have the white pinnacle dazzle. Works great! I even fly using the 16" laptop screen as my FPV monitor.

Do you know the minimum requirements a laptop would need?

Yeah like that. It seems to be the black one. FPV people seem to like the white one, I don't know why. Mine was only $49.00 two years ago.

    My laptop doesn't have a dvd/cd drive, and it's only a 32 bit system.
I've got my eye on the Hobby Wireless VR 1500V video recorder that I mentioned earlier.

I don't think you need a DVD or CD drive unless you want to make disks.

I think I read you load the software with their CD but it may be available online too. They also recommend a 64 bit system. Don't know it that is a must but I suppose it would perform better with what they recommend.

I've just had my first run FPV on the truck.:D
I'm glad I started with it, it will be fun trucking around the yard for a few days to get used to the feel of it. I had read where some folks get a little nauseous or seasick when first starting. As a rule I'm not bothered by motion sickness but I can feel a little of it right now.
Next time out I'll stick the little keychain cam on and post a little clip.
