As you probably know, the FAA is considering changes to the rules governing Model Aircraft. Some of it you probably won’t like.
There is a short window for input about their proposed changes.
Well worth your time, to take a look at it, and let your feelings known.
Will they take your input into consideration? Good question.
The choice is yours. Do nothing and live with it, or submit your ideas.

So much for the AMA - FAA cooperation.

Here is an opinion piece on the subject:

"Through this language, Congress specifically recognized the FAA’s existing authority to take enforcement action to protect the safety of the NAS. Moreover, it did not limit the FAA’s authority to take enforcement action where a violation of a regulation results in the endangerment of the NAS. As demonstrated by the FAA’s statutory and regulatory authorities, our charge to protect the safety of the NAS is not only intended to protect users of the airspace, but is also intended to protect persons and property on the ground"

Totally nuts! We now have a government now that wants to control EVERYTHING. So with this new "interpretation", the FAA expands their control from National Air Space (NAS) to virtually everything. I'm sure this will include baseballs and blowing leaves before long. You know how dangerous those can be!

So I wonder how the industry will respond. Clearly, many of the products that we can buy now are illegal to use. Companies with plans like DJI has are totally screwed. I don't think there is any point in writing letters. If these folks cared at all what you think, they would have gone about this completely different. The current administration totally disregards the constitution they are sworn to uphold. What's the chances they give a crap what you think about anything?

From the back chatter there is a lot of talk how the "Industry" supports all this, and by industry I mean General Atomics and the like. They want the FAA to require all this high dollar "safe" aircraft that they already developed for the military so they can sell commercially.

Well, the "Industry" can wish in one hand and s#!t in the other and see which fills up. It is too late to change what is already in motion here.

    Back to the soapbox.
Don’t kid yourself. This isn’t something that will only screw the other guy. They aren’t just after drones, FPV, or what ever you are into.
If it goes up, it will qualify. It will impact, not only the back yard flier, clubs, and the industry, but everyone.
Take a look at the proposed changes. No doubt, they will also tighten the screws from that.
The choice is yours. There is a short widow for input.
    Might just help.
Or the other option. Do nothing and live with it.
